Jennie + Sam

Jennie and Sam in the shadows of the parking garage above SPKRBX in downtown Detroit.

Do you ever see a couple and just know without a shadow of a doubt that they’re meant for each other? That’s Jennie and Sam.

Nose kisses under the lights of the Hudson Building.

I actually went to high school with both Jennie AND Sam! While not in each other’s grades, we were constantly crossing paths - both in school and after. And as 3 kids who grew up in St. Clair Shores… there’s pretty much no way to NOT run into each other. Whether it be the gym, the bar, or even Eastern Market, I see these two everywhere!

Impromptu date in a corner booth at Ray’s Hometown Bar in downtown Detroit.

Jennie booked this session with me MONTHS ago. She knew she wanted it to be in Detroit, somewhere we all call home. She also wanted it to be candid, relaxed, and easy. And easy it was. We started at SPKRBX with some drinks, went up to the roof to take photos among the buildings, and then walked around just waiting to see what felt right. We ended up at Ray’s Hometown Bar in Parker’s Alley and, with permission from the bar, ended up in a corner booth with more drinks and laughs. It gave the perfect dive bar feel, complete with pool tables, photo booth, and even a TV that the bartender asked Sam if he was even old enough to remember! I feel incredibly lucky that we were able to take photos in here before their photo policy changed. We finished our session in the Hudson Building alley with a coffee and live music. It was a perfect example of everything Detroit has to offer.
